Went to Speedy Video the other day and spotted it... I thought I was seeing things but no, there it was... BoA's OUTGROW album! OmG!!! There were 3, so picked the most decent one and headed straight to the counter to purchase it. It was a lil pricey, but what the heck, I've been searching high and low for this album. It has taken ages to reach our shores... (and NO, I DON'T buy pirated copies of artistes I TRULY support!)
First things first, like her previous Japanese album Best of Soul (not Girls on Top, that's Korean), this album comes in a big dual-disk case, comprising of 1 CD of music and 1 DVD of videos. I heard that there were 2 different covers, each for different markets, but this package comes with both! I somehow like the 2nd one more, that's totally wicked. Now if Farah's album comes out like that I'd be really REALLY happy. But best not to put hopes too high, after all it's going to be her 1st album. This is BoA's upteenth... lost count liao. And when it comes to album packaging, BoA has it nailed down really well.
The songs are real good, the fast numbers real catchy, and the slow numbers really moving... Everlasting is so painfully sad sounding, yet awesome to listen to. Dakeshimeru is super catchy, Do the Motion's easy going, while Make a Secret's really uptempo and cool. Awesome stuff here... and BoA wrote 2 songs herself, while working on 2 others... ;)
The included DVD deserves special mention. It includes the making of 2 music videos, and 4 music videos from this album. And BoA continues to have super music videos of the highest calibre... They're just breathtaking... let's take a look...
Do the Motion
This video's really artistic in the fashion sense that they use... It shows a lot of ballroom dancing, and BoA dressed really pretty in a dress. There's also this other her wearing cute 3-quarter pants and sitting on a bench. Makes her look all-kiddy again... :)
Make a Secret
Stylish. One word to describe this one. Awesomely cool, and taking alot of inspiration from the King of Pop, this video is all about slick, smooth moves... Really enjoyed it, it also has certain segments in monochrome, which I find an interesting touch...
Dakeshimeru
Loud, fast, stylish... this is the BoA that fans know and love... looking super hot in a Lotus Elise in certain parts, she starts the video showing off a lil more legs than usual. Kinda shocking, she HAS been rather conservative... but well, she's growin up. The dance moves are slick, fast and loud. She looks the prettiest in this video...
Everlasting
This has got to be one of the most artistic music videos I've seen in quite a while. It's just beautiful, breathtaking... the use of multiple mood-setting locations and the soft-filter lens creates the suitable mood for this song, which itself is plain beautiful.
Oh well, there's my lil ('lil' huh..) coverage of BoA's OUTGROW album. Hehe... sorry, I was just rather excited... If Farah's music videos can come out looking like this, I'll cry with joy. But here's hoping :D
PEACE and God Bless,
Aris Tee
