Asian Idol 2007 : Have You Voted?

Asian Idol last night was awesome... despite having only 6 competing countries, it was so nice seeing each contestant giving it their all to do their country proud. I agree with the hosts and judges, let's do this every year! It's awesome! The stage, the audience, the performances... It was quite fun! The contestants are Jaclyn Victor from Malaysia, Hady Mirza from Singapore, Mike Mohede from Indonesia, Phuong Vy from Vietnam, Mau Marcelo from Philippines and Abhijeet Sawant from India. Each one has their strengths and weaknesses, and I believe they are all winners for being on the stage last nite. Each one did so well! Well, naturally you have to support Jac as she is our representative. I didn't quite like that she added a lotta acrobatics into her "Gemilang" performance, but you'd have to admit that it was darn good. The comments were good too.

You have to vote for 2 countries in 1 sms (costing 50sen). I was having high hopes for Philippines as I heard a lot of good things from her, but she didn't perform as well as I expected. Mike's 2nd song was wonderful, Abhijeet got the family dancing to his Indian song (woohoo!), and Hady Mirza was one boy who has lotsa star appeal. But my 2nd vote goes to Vietnamese Idol Phuong Vy who really surprised me with that stunning 1st performance. Trust me, I've always found Vietnamese singing a lil weird (there were several BoA songs resung in Vietnamese), needs lots of getting used to, but her 2nd song in Vietnamese was lovely! She was like a star already despite only winning her title in October (just like what the Singaporean judge said, among all the contestants, she has the most commercial value).

So let us wait tonight and see who will win... and do your part for our country and VOTE!

Looking forward to see who wins tonight~ According to the judges, it should be the Idol who appeals to the most people and not necessarily the best singer.
