50th Merdeka & August Hauls
Happy 50th, Malaysia!
Gosh... Malaysia's 50 already... I wonder how would things be like by the time it's 100... Would things be different? Would it be as peaceful as now? Would we be finally on the world map? Would there be still traffic jams (somehow I think that would stay)? Would I still be here? Things like that make you wonder... Back in 1957, nobody would've guessed we've progressed this much, yet back then we were really united for a common goal: independence.Reading the historical pages from 50 years ago through the New Straits Times really was enjoyable and somewhat like a time machine into our nation's past. It showed how we were finally given a chance to be a nation, not through bloodshed but through peace. And that same peaceful message should be passed on and may future generations be blessed with the same peacefulness and unity we all now enjoy.
Happy Birthday Malaysia, may there be many wonderful years ahead~
Merdeka Bug
The love Bug wore the national flag as proudly as it did every year :)
Merdeka Jam
What's a Merdeka without a traffic jam? To commemorate our 50th Merdeka, KL brings you the heaviest jam yet! I've been late to work almost the whole week... taking between 2-3 hours to get to the office from home. The SMART tunnel was closed several times too because people can't even get in... all because of the rehearsals for the big day. I even managed to see a group of helicopters with the national flag... 5-6 ambulances went through us on one of the days... Well, it's understood that they need to get to the hospital quick, but there was once when a bigshot had several police vehicles getting the traffic to give way... Oh well~
Got a new Watch
My mum got me a new watch for my birthday present as well... it's kinda cool and it came with an awesome 70% discount (from the original price of almost RM200).
Finally, a new Thumb Drive!
Got a new thumb drive to replace my naked 256mB one which recently lost it's rubber casing (it broke into 2). The new one's in rubber too, but it's padded this time, and from Corsair (one of the market leaders in durability). This model received cult status over it's ability to withstand a drop into a pool or onto the floor. It's really cute and it feels heavy-duty. And it's 2GB~
Merdeka Month Haul
It's the haul of the month... Finally after almost 2 months of searching (and regretting for not grabbing in the 1st place), I found the big one... and a couple of pretty rare units... James' shop was in a state of madness that day, there was such a rush that he had to introduce a ticketing system... Thanks to one kind gurl whose order didn't arrive. She passed me her ticket and I managed to be 20th.
Longarm
I've always fancied this fella... the fact that he looks so similar to the tow truck in the movie makes it so hard to resist... The only thing different was that he transforms (obviously) and he has "Orson's Towing" at the side instead of "Mike's Towing" like in the movie.
Dropkick
This chap is also cool... I heard he's a much sought-after figure. I can see why, it's a pretty decent mold and the emblem on the bonnet is sure to win many fans.
Optimus Prime (Costco Exclusive)
Yups... the big guy... the new packaging is HUGE and it comes with Legends Class Bumblebee and Jazz. He's seriously highly sought-after (he's Prime!) and I was really happy to finally find a unit, even if he's in a different packaging.
Now that I've posted them... I just realised they're all trucks! LoL!
Mars Ice CreamRecently tried the Ice Cream version of Mars... loveliness beyond belief... a lil pricey but really worth it~
No, that's not BoA eating Mars ice cream...
Healthy Zquidgie
Ogawa sent me a letter stating that they're giving me a birthday gift... odd... it's been rather quiet this year and all of a sudden Ogawa's giving me a gift? Anyways went there to pick it up. It's some sort of cushion to put behind the neck while driving or under the wrist while typing. I thot it was rather cute and all, but they surprised me when they showed that a funny contraption can be placed inside and it vibrates to massage! Awesome... apparently it's worth RM60+, but it's FOC for me... yippee~
Darn Censorship!
I laid out a page recently (yesterday to be exact) and it featured a lot of hot (yes, HAWT) babes in... well... hawt attire. sloggi ones to be exact. And I laid the page out nicely, edge-ing-out the gurls to make them stand out. Then I was told that one of the gurls had to be taken out (she was the eventual winner, and had some rather suggestive poses), and many other photos were rejected too. Well, since this country's kinda strict on this, we had no choice but to remove the pics, leaving the relatively more "decent" and "innocent" ones... Oh ya, Karen's in there too, looking sweet... You can imagine the horror of seeing my page blacked out with marker the next day (one of the gurls, she's not even like bootilicious or anything... but cute), apparently a move in order not to get the paper in trouble. Apparently, our recent article with sloggi received a letter, saying it's quite "risky". So coming out with another "risky" page would spell potential trouble. Sheesh... it's a swimming apparel company and swimwear show! What do you expect? Sometimes the local censorship board really bothers me... sikit-sikit pun tak boleh, a little skin also can offend so much... seems like almost everything local requires censorship, like Gwen Stefani's recent concert... (but that's another story, next time) Anyways, here are the related pages~
The previous page that caused problems:
The original version of my page:
The final version that went to print:
What I saw in the papers the next day:
G1 Redeco Jazz
I was walking around Jusco yesterday and all of a sudden something caught my eye. I saw it and held it straight away... it was the Target exclusive G1 redeco of Jazz! It looked so cool... Then I turned around and found out that there were a number of them there, so picked up the best looking one (least defects). Jazz was among the 1st Transformers I had when I was small, so getting a tribute to him was amazing~ Hee hee...
Randomness
Just to sum stuff up, here are some random goodness I took photos of around town~
Transformers poster still up! :D
Optimash Prime... lol~
Freaky Spongebob Squarepants merchandise...
Reflection on glossy red sheet of metal~
Our new Malaysian Today Roadiez truck (deco by Irene)
Oh well, that's it for now... would love to blabber more, but I'm stopping here so I can leave home quick (It's Merdeka eve, gonna be freaking jam-packed!)
PEACE & God Bless,
Aris
