Painting the Streets Yellow

Perodua has been running 'Lagi Power Lagi Best' roadshows around the country of late. Meant to help promote the latest addition to their stable, the Myvi 1.5, these roadshows travel from state-to-state and allow the public to get a closer look at the new model. I managed to check the roadshow out as they hit Bandar Puteri Giant in Puchong yesterday.

Taking roughly half-a-row of parking lots in terms of space, the roadshow certainly made its presence known to shoppers. The intention to have the public test drive the new model was immediately clear, with a fleet of little yellow cars lining up the lots, waiting to rumble.

I wasted no time giving the Myvi Extreme 1.5 a spin along the test route, after which I got some freebies. I was also asked to participate in a survey too, in which I got myself even more freebies after. Most were average merchandise although I liked the Myvi Extreme 1.5 key chain and 2-in-1 pen/pencil.

It was good that they did the survey, as it allowed me to voice out my opinions, after which might help improve future roadshows. I did notice the test route layout was rather lacking, as it was merely a simple journey past Columbia Asia Hospital into the inner parts of Bandar Puteri, a U-turn and back to Giant. It was almost entirely made of straights with no room to try out handling. They also asked me for my thoughts on the car, of which I gave plenty.

Other than the test drive, there were also games in which the public could win prizes (the same stuff I got from the test drive and survey) and sample units of the Myvi SE 1.5 and Myvi Extreme 1.5 for Malaysians to do their favourite new car test: body knocking and door slamming.

A number could also be seen making bookings of the car.

Getting the public to try the car out in a shopping area seems like a good thing, as not everyone is willing to check out the showrooms.

However, it would have been better if they gave more promotions like discounts or free gifts for those who came for the roadshow.

Speaking of the Myvi 1.5, expect a test drive report real soon!

PEACE and God Bless,
Aris Tee
